About three hours north of Bogotá is the Spanish colonial town of Villa de Leyva. It is considered the best historically preserved and one of the most beautiful towns in Colombia.
The town’s central plaza (Plaza Mayor) is the largest in Colombia and perhaps in all of South America. With its cobblestone streets and whitewashed buildings, Villa de Leyva is a photographer’s dream.
I would spend my evenings in the Plaza Mayor just simply sitting in a cafe facing the square or sitting on the steps of the church watching the world go by.
