In 2012 Forbes Magazine named North Park one of America's Hippest Hipster Neighborhoods. I didn't need Forbes Magazine to tell me that since I have been going to this San Diego neighborhood for years. My favorite Christian bookstore, camera shop and coffee lounge are located there or were. I have been patronizing those businesses for years, but now the Christian bookstore has closed down and I do all my camera shopping online and my favorite coffee lounge, Claire de Lune, has gone out of business.
Photographing North Park's neon sign was a bit dangerous since I was standing in the middle of traffic in the narrow part of the island to capture this long exposure shot. Afterwards, I would normally reward my bravery by heading down the street corner on the right for a nice cup of coffee at Claire de Lune, but since they have closed their doors I had to settle for Starbucks across the street.
