The Kensington neighborhood of San Diego is a locale that I use to frequent quite often. My favorite café was the Kensington Coffee Company with its dilapidated furniture, great coffee and local charm ambience. I did plenty of reading and writing there, but once Starbucks moved in across the corner, the dynamics of the neighborhood started to change. Shortly afterwards, the ownership changed hands and it is now called the Kensington Café.
Today, I rarely go to Kensington if only to go to the Ken Cinema to watch a foreign film or grab lunch at Ponce’s Mexican Restaurant.
Photographing the Kensington sign brought back some fond memories of a not too distant past.
