Description
Shelter from the Storm
Well, I'm livin' in a foreign country but I'm bound to cross the line
Beauty walks a razor's edge, someday I'll make it mine
If I could only turn back the clock to when God and her were born
Come in, she said
I'll give ya shelter from the storm
Bob Dylan, “Shelter From The Storm”
Continuing with my mini-project of photographing historic neon signs around various neighborhoods in San Diego, the Shelter Island sign has been overlooked from many lists of neon neighborhood signs. In fact, I have driven by this sign many times without giving a thought of photographing it.
So here is my contribution to recognizing Shelter Island’s (technically not an island, but an isthmus) neighborhood sign and to a living legend in Bob Dylan, the first songwriter to win the Nobel Prize in Literature.
Twilight car light trails with the Shelter Island neon sign, Shelter Island, Point Loma, California, USA. Taken 4 April 2017.
