Description
Topkapi Palace was the official residential place of the Ottoman Sultans from 1465 to 1853. At the peak of its existence, it was a royal residence to as many as 4,000 people. Topkapi Palace was a gathering place for the royal events, entertainment, and state occasions and today serves as a very popular museum.
The Audience Chamber is a pavilion surrounded by a colonnade of 22 columns and where the sultan sat on a canopied throne to receive his grand viziers and foreign dignitaries.
